Design Process

As a garment designer covering all clothing departments baby, girlswear, boyswear and adaptive clothing. I typically start by working on seasonal trends. Research and creative inspiration are carefully taken from specialized agencies like Peclers, influential magazines, tradeshows, catwalk trends, shopping trips and internet services. In addition, I use selected blogs such a Pinterest and smudgetikka.
I then work into our trends for the season, looking at colour palettes, key shapes, new graphics and fabric interests. Being extremely selective these are then made into mood boards and an initial trend shopping pack is produced. I would then move onto inspirational shopping trips.
I will then look on to key themes for phasing, colour flow and work into the unique stories. I then finalise the official colour palettes and precisely match to Pantone to industry standard.
